Austrian World Champion Hannes Arch has taken his second win of the season at the fourth round of the Red Bull Air Race in Gdynia, Poland, yesterday

Arch took the win from Briton Nigel Lamb and Aussie Matt Hall, who has scored his second successive podium finish.

The Final 4 at Gdynia was Arch (1:09.895), Lamb (1:11.306), Hall (1:11.538) and American Kirby Chambliss (1:12.918).

Arch has now not finished below second place in all four rounds of the series.

The Austrian qualified in only third place behind Paul Bonhomme and Nigel Lamb, putting him in the unusual place of having to chase the other pilots.

"I prefer to be the hunter than the hunted," said Arch, who topped qualifiying in both Croatia and Malaysia. "Being the hunter suits my style better. But I guess I'm going to have to get used to being the one that everyone else is hunting now."

Matt Hall also had work to do after qualifying, putting his MXS-R in sixth place. He went on to defeat Martin Sonka in the Top 12 and qualified third for the Final 4.

“Today I wanted to fly smoothly and precisely and most of all be consistent in doing that,” he said.

“If I’m consistent in doing that I am then in turn consistent in my results and the last two races have shown that. I can’t wait for the next round.

“Today’s result moves me up a place and if I can continue to be consistent and move on that trajectory I can aim for a season ending podium finish.

“Hannes is a long way in front now but I haven’t given up on things and I’m sure the other guys in contention haven’t either. There’s a lot of racing left in this season.”

Hannes Arch leads the championship with 42 points, Paul Bonhomme is second on 29 points, Lamb third on 26 and Hall fourth on 21.

The next round is over Royal Ascot Racecourse in the UK 16-17 August.
