Airservices Australia is urging women to consider a career in aviation, in particular at Airservices, as part of the International Women of Aviation Worldwide Week (WOAWW).

Airservices staff around the country will have the opportunity to take part in the Pink Paper Plane Challenge™ by constructing pink paper planes while taking the time to look back at the role women have played in the industry.

Airservices Executive General Manager People and Culture, Andrew Boyd, said Airservices is committed to raising awareness of diversity within the workplace.

“We are focused on attracting women to operational areas of the organisation such as air traffic control, technical and engineering roles and aviation rescue fire fighting,” he said.

“This week provides us with an opportunity to encourage women to consider a role in aviation by showcasing the achievements of our existing workforce."

The sixth annual Women of Aviation Worldwide Week is a global outreach initiative from the Institute for Women of Aviation Worldwide with various week-long celebrations including information sessions and free flights for women in light aircraft at airports all over the world.
