Aerospace Australia Limited, the organisers of the Australian International Air Show, are to be the Founding Corporate Patron of the newly-formed Australian Helicopter Industry Association (AHIA).

AAL’s Chief Executive Ian Honnery expressed his support for the AHIA and its aims at the association's inaugural gathering in Sydney.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to support the establishment of the AHIA,” he said. “This is an industry that is expanding, and having a united voice to represent the industry before regulatory bodies and promote future growth opportunities is vital.

“The rotary industry is in an extremely healthy position. With a fleet growth rate of around 10% and significant growth in the twin engine fleet due to the demands of the expanding resource sector, establishing an industry wide representative body couldn’t be timelier.”

AAL has had successful helicopter showcases at both the Avalon Exposition in Victoria and the Pacific International Maritime Exposition in Sydney.

AAL has invited the newly formed helicopter association to hold its official launch at the 2013 Australian International Airshow and Aerospace and Defence Exposition to be held from February 26 to March 3 at Avalon Airport near Geelong.
