Italian manufacturer Tecnam has introduced a 215-hp version of its P Twenty-Ten four-seat single, giving the aircraft a significant boost in performance.

The company announced yesterday that the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had validated the airframe with a Lycoming IO-390, which enables the P Twenty-Ten to climb at 1100 fpm and gives a maximum cruise at 146 KTAS. The engine is rated at 215 hp @ 2700 rpm, coupled with a three-bladed MT variable-pitch propeller.

In its standard configuration, the P Twenty-Ten is powered by a 180-hp Lycoming IO-360, giving it a max cruise of 133 KTAS.

“Tecnam reaffirms its commitment in giving our customers a wide range of GA aircraft options," said Paolo Pascale, Tecnam CEO. "More power on the P2010 should enable private owners to really enjoy their cross country trips in particular.”

Both the 180- and 215-hp versions are equipped with Garmin G1000 NXi avionics.
