Italian manufacturer Tecnam has announced a new corporate presence in Australia as it seeks to increase market share for its range of light sport and general aviation aircraft.

The company has prepared its marketing strategy, which will be in two parts: the long-established 600kg MTOW Light Sport Aircraft product line, which can be registered either with RAAus or VH-reg with CASA, and the three general aviation aircraft that have yet to be put on a solid footing in Australia.

Long-time Tecnam dealer Bruce Stark will take responsibility for Tecnam's range of Light Sport and recreational aircraft, including the impressive P2008, whilst former Cessna and Piper representative Allan Bligh OAM and AOPA Australia director Spencer Ferrier will manage the GA range, including the four-seat P2010, the twin-engined P2006T and the P2012 Traveller charter aircraft.

“After many years of successful operation, and with a brand-new product line to be offered in General Aviation, Tecnam has decided to confirm its presence in Australia and to sell and support its products directly”, said Tecnam worldwide Sales Director Walter Da Costa.

“We are really proud to commence our corporate presence in Australia with such a strong and capable sales team. The introduction of our heavier aircraft in the VH category will make a strong mark in Australian aviation and we look forward to serving the Australian travelling public with our well-proven, advanced design, economical fleet.”

Tecnam's P2010 and P2006T are both already certified and the company is targeting 2019 for the Traveller to enter the market.
