Aircraft towing company Speedhawk has added the Supertow Striker to its range of aircraft tows.
The Supertow Striker is capable of ground manoeuvring aircraft weighing up to 7000 kg, making it suitable for mid-range twins such as AeroCommanders, Aerostars, Navajos and Cessna 400 series, as well as single-engined turbo-props and entry-level jets.
The Striker is powered by a 36v electric motor supplied from three heavy-duty batteries and has a low profile compared with most aircraft tows to make sure it clears nose-gear doors.
It also has dynamic braking and an electro-magnetic parking brake, which means the aircraft can be left on the tow without the need for wheel chocks.
All controls are contained on the handle, so there is no need for bending.
The Supertow Striker is priced at $10,800 without the three truck batteries needed, but comes with all wiring harnesses and a battery charger.
More information on the Striker and other tow units is available on the Speedhawk website.
