An inquiry into the performance of Airservices Australia has been re-opened after the senate referred it back to a committee last week.

The Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee first opened the inquiry in 2014, but it lapsed in July last year because the report had not been submitted before the 44th parliament ended.

The inquiry held public hearings in November 2014, August 2015 and September 2015, and submissions closed before it lapsed.

Before the last federal election, the inquiry dealt with several issues including the OneSKY air traffic management system, the introduction of ADS-B and the failure to fully implement the National Airspace System (NAS).

At this stage there is no indication if submissions will be re-opened and no new hearings have yet scheduled.
