Robinson Helicopter has delivered the first two production R44 Cadets to Australian operator Heliflite.
Heliflite secured early production slots, and received serial numbers 30002 and 30003 after the FAA certified the type on 10 May this year.
The Cadet’s airframe, rotor system, and power plant are the same as the R44 Raven I. Where the Cadet differs is the rear seats have been removed, the maximum take-off weight has been reduced to 997 kg and the engine has been de-rated to 210 hp take-off and 185 hp continuous power.
The lower weight and de-rated power provide increased performance margins at high altitudes.
Robinson is aiming the Cadet at the training market and also at operators who are looking for lower costs with increased utility.
