Regional Aviation Association of Australia (RAAA) CEO Rob Walker announced today that the 2026 RAAA convention would be held in Cairns rather than its usual home on the Gold Coast.
The event is scheduled for 16-18 June 2026 at the Cairns Convention Centre.
Held every two years, the RAAA convention regularly attracts a strong list of speakers and exhibitors including OEMs, operators, airlines, MROs and regulators.
"The RAAA Convention is recognised as one of the preeminent aviation events held in Australia, drawing delegates from around the country and the world," Walker said. "RAAA Convention 2026 promises to be bigger and better than ever before as we build on the success of our 2024 event on the Gold Coast.
"The theme for the RAAA Convention 2026 is 'Stronger Together’ as we reflect and build on the associations’ key strategic pillars of Advocacy, Community, Leadership and Education.
"The convention program will be demonstrating and exploring these areas, and showcasing how we collectively continue to drive our industry forwards, for the betterment of ourselves and each other."
RAAA is the primary advocacy body for regional aviation, and Walker believes the association is well positioned to build a strong future for the sector.
"Unsurprisingly, 40% of all domestic passengers travelling in Australia pass through a regional airport as part of their journey," he points out. "Our member airlines and aircraft operators, supported by the vast array of suppliers, maintenance organisations, trainers and manufacturers, really do keep our great nation running.
"With the Federal election behind us and the government’s agenda clearly defined through the Aviation White Paper, we all look forward to working hard to ensure the success of our own businesses and the broader vitality of the Australian aviation industry."
As well as the exhibition and speaking program, the RAAA convention will also include a golf day and Great Barrier Reef tour as social events.
