Paul Bennet Airshows has taken over organising the Shellharbour air show from AMDA Foundation, it was announced last Tuesday.
Originally known as Wings over Illawarra, the show was rebranded as Airshows Downunder Shellharbour in 2023 when AMDA acquired the event from Bright Events. Under Paul Bennet Airshows, the event will now be titled Wings over Shellharbour (WOS).
Although scheduled for March under AMDA, WOS is now slated to go ahead 15-17 May 2026, and will become an annual event again.
AMDA Foundation withdrew from organising the show in July, citing difficulty with the distance between their Geelong headquarters and Shellharbour, and a need to support general aviation through other initiatives as reasons. At the time, AMDA said it would look for another organiser for the event.
AMDA will continue to focus on the careers and STEM program staged in conjunction with the air show.
Paul Bennet Airshows has displayed at Shellharbour for several years, putting up both aerobatic biplanes and warbirds, including the Wolf Pitts, SkyAces aerobatic team, TBM Avenger, Wirraway and Sea Fury.
More information including other aircraft slated to appear is on the Wings over Shellharbour website.
