At Oshkosh this year, the Federal Aviation Administration finally released its new rules that will change the face of Light Sport Aircraft right around the world. LSAs will get heavier and have more modern systems available to them. If you're not familiar, the changes to the LSA standard include:

  • removing the weight limit, which allows for more safety features and safety-design flexibility
  • encompassing aircraft with higher speeds, more seats and retractable landing gear
  • allowing for new types of propulsion and modern avionics
  • allowing four seats
  • setting a stall speed for an aeroplane at 61 CAS at most critical CoG.

Australian Flying is seeking the opinions of the GA community on these changes and what they mean for general and recreational aviation in Australia. Take this very quick survey and let us know something about what you think of the new LSA standard and what the impact will be.

The survey collector is limited and will close as soon as the response limit is reached.
