Former Qantas Chief Pilot Chris Manning has been re-appointed as Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) Commissioner for a further two years.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Michael McCormack made the announcement last week,

Manning was first appointed in 2015 after the Aviation Safety Regulation Review (ASRR) recommended that the ATSB needed a commissioner with aviation experience.

“As a former Chief Pilot and Group General Manager Flight Operations with Qantas, Mr Manning will continue to provide the Commission with the benefits of his more than 40 years of aviation experience," McCormack said.

At the same time, the minister also announced that ATSB Commissioner Carolyn Walsh had also been re-appointed for two years.

In other boardroom news from Canberra, former Jetstar Head of Flying Operations and Chief Pilot Mark Rindfleish was last week appointed to the CASA board for three years.
