Gulfstream's long-range executive jet, the G650ER has claimed another record, this one for the fastest time to link Sydney and Los Angeles.
The jet departed Sydney International at 0711 AEST on 11 March, and crossed the 6620 nm route in 12 hours and 40 minutes, arriving at Los Angeles International at 0151 local time on the same day.
The average cruise speed was Mach 0.86.
“This latest speed record is another demonstration of the G650ER’s superior capabilities,” said a proud Scott Neal, Senior Vice President, Gulfstream Worldwide Sales and Marketing.
“The unmatched range and speed of the G650ER enables operators to reach more destinations nonstop quickly and efficiently. No other business aircraft can connect Sydney to Los Angeles faster than the G650ER.”
Although the US National Aeronautics Association has approved the record, the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in Switzerland has not yet recognised it.
