LIthuanian aerobatics legend Jurgis Kairys will return to the Australian International Airshow this year with his own aerobatic team in tow.

Kairys has performed at Avalon in the past as a solo performer and also as part of the Tinstix of Dynamite (Immortals) display team.

It is believed Kairys will fly his custom-made Juka aeroplane, leading a team of pilots in Yak 50s in the Air Bandits.

The Air Bandits consist of Kairys and experienced Romanian aerobatic display pair of Ioan Postolache and Dan Stefanescu, who have many hours flying air shows together.

Kairys is among the masters of the international aerobatic circuit and is a winner of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) World Grand Prix. He pioneered many of the spectacular manoeuvres upon which modern aerobatics are judged.

He is also thought to be the first pilot to perform the famed "cobra" manoeuvre in a prop-driven aeroplane.
