Australian Red Bull Racer Matt Hall has been recognised for his outstanding aviation career with an prestigious award from the Honourable Company of Air Pilots, formerly known as the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators.
Hall will be awarded the Australian Bicentennial Award for 2015, an ongoing commemoration of the 1988 Bicentenary
Hall said he was both shocked and honoured to receive the award.
“I am truly humbled to firstly be recommended and secondly to actually be recognised and receive this award.
“I have dedicated my life to aviation but it is a passion and winning an honour like this is certainly not something I have ever really thought about.
“An achievement like this is just the icing on the cake and I am very grateful to the Australian Regional Committee and Honourable Company of Air Pilots for recognising me.”
The annual awards event will be held in London at the end of October; however, other commitments will prevent Hall from attending, so his presentation will happen separately in Brisbane in November.
The award scheme goes back to 1988, when it was first awarded to Captain Trevor Thom. Other notable winners in the 28 years since include Senja Robey (1995), Lang Kidby (1998), David Lowy (2006), Chris Sperou (2012) and Harry Schneider (2014).
