The Australian Aviation Hall of Fame (AAHOF) has announced that the organisation will have a permanent home with the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) at Albion Park.

AAHOF Chairman Steve Padgett made the announcement yesterday.

AAHOF has been in operation as a virtual entity since 2010, with support from founding partner Wagga Wagga City Council, which also hosted the annual induction ceremony. Since its inception, the AAHOF committee has been working to create a permanent display.

"There was a commitment to our sponsors and supporters that we would create a permanent home and a specific purpose display for AAHOF," Padgett said.

"After seeking proposals from various locations around Australia, we were delighted to find that our objectives and interests and those of HARS were closely associated; enabling us to jointly form a relationship for the benefit of both organisations and to those who support both HARS and the Hall of Fame.

"I would like to thank HARS president Bob De La Hunty, his board and Shellharbour City Council for their enthusiasm and commitment to join with us to make this a reality."

Both HARS and AAHOF will spend the next few months planning and creating a display area for the hall of fame.

Thirty-one people and five organisations have been inducted into AAHOF, and the committee says there is a long list of worthy candidates still to be considered.

This year's induction ceremony is scheduled to be held on the Sunshine Coast on 25 November. Last year, although hosted by Wagga Wagga City Council, the inductions took place at Temora Aviation Museum.
