German manufacturer Flight Design is building components again after entering temporary receivership in February this year.

Flight Design manufactures the CT range of light sport aircraft and is developing the C4 four-seat general aviation aeroplane.

The company applied for insolvency to allow it to restructure after a liquidity crunch. According to management, the insolvency application became necessary after an international customer failed to settle a bill of over seven-digit Euros.

In late July, the company announced that newly-manufactured metal and composite spare parts were being shipped to customers after successful negotiations with the company’s major suppliers.

Partially-completed aircraft are now being finished after approval for delivery to customers, and the first new aircraft orders since the insolvency declaration have been accepted and are in production.

“We are very pleased to see things moving again,” said Daniel Gunther, COO of Flight Design GmbH. “It shows good faith by our dealers and suppliers to help us now when we really need it.

"We have received a lot of support from our employees as well. We look forward to delivering these new orders and going forward from there."

The company hopes to continue developing the C4, a composite, high-wing single that first flew on 9 April last year.
