Diamond Aircraft announced yesterday that the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had certified the new DA50 RG retractable single, paving the way for the first customer deliveries early next year.

The DA50 RG is a five-seater powered by a Continental CD-300 FADEC engine that has a top speed of 181 KTAS and a useful load of 559 kg. The design is intended to grab market share from the dominant Cirrus SR22/T.

“We are extremely proud to have received EASA type certification for our single engine flagship, the DA50 RG," said Liqun Zhang, CEO at Diamond Aircraft Austria. "The Diamond Aircraft team has done a tremendous job to make this possible.

“With the DA50 RG we are introducing an innovative 21st-century retract single that we are convinced the market is missing. Bringing the aircraft to the market is a great accomplishment that we are very pleased to celebrate with our Diamond Aircraft family and the aviation community all over the world.

"We are simply overwhelmed by the huge interest, the number of inquiries and feedback we have been receiving for this game changer since the launch in June. We are looking forward to welcoming many proud DA50 RG pilots over the coming months and years.”

Diamond is expecting FAA certification for the DA50 RG at the end of 2021.

More information on the DA50 RG is on the Diamond Aircraft website.
