Diamond Aircraft has opened a new production plant in China.
The plant was offcially opened on 28 August and co-incided with the first flight of an aircraft built completely in China. The new plant manufactures both aircraft and engines.
Christian Dries, CEO and owner, Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH, said he is very impressed with the Chinese government's ambitions for their economy.
"It is unbelievable what the Chinese government is doing to build their economy," he said. "This is our fourth and most beautiful location in the world."
Diamond has had an association with Chinese aircraft manufacture since 2006, when they signed a joint-venture agreement with three partners to establish Shandong Bin Ao Aircraft Industries Co. Ltd at Binzhou Dagao airport, building the four-seat DA40 Diamond Star.
Most recently, they sold a 60% share of Diamond Canada to Wanfeng Auto Holding Group.
