CQUniversity announced today that it has signed a partnership deal for Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) to provide practical flight training for aviation students.

An MAF International aircraft takes-off or lands somewhere in the world every five minutes. These flights enable work by many aid and development agencies, missions, local churches and other national groups.

CQUniversity lecturer in Aviation and Head of Course for Postgraduate Aviation Arno Mueckenhausen said MAF was the 14th flight provider to be signed with the university’s aviation department.

“It’s wonderful to have MAF International on board – this agreement will give our Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations) and Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations) students in Cairns a fabulous opportunity to train with a provider that not only delivers flights, but hope,” Mueckenhausen said.

“It displays another great provider to come on board at CQU Aviation and shows our commitment to continuously grow the program,” he said.

“It also enhances the local footprint in the Cairns region where we now have two flight training providers.”

MAF International Training Centre Operations Manager René Don said CQU students completing the pilot training program with MAF would benefit from its 75 years of specialised experience in the world’s most challenging aviation environments.

“Students will learn the skills and competencies required to be successful operators in remote areas," he said.

“Mareeba is ideally located right next to controlled airspace, providing mountainous terrain and true remote area experiences, not to mention 300 sunny days per year.

“Whether you are starting from scratch (ab-initio) or looking to upgrade your pilot skills, our team of experienced instructors are well-equipped to take you to the next level.

“Our instructor team has extensive flying experience and aviation industry knowledge to provide the most relevant and up-to-date instruction to CQU students.”

CQUniversity offers several aviation qualifications including Bachelor of Aviation (Commercial Pilot) and Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations).
