Chinese company Wanfeng Auto Holding Group has taken a 60% share in Diamond Aircraft Canada.

The news was announced after a signing ceremony held in London, Ontario on 13 December.

Diamond Aircraft and sister company Austro Engines remain 100% owned by Austrian citizens, under the management of founder Christian Dries.

It is thought that Diamond Canada will produce the DA40 and the new DA62 twin, with the Austrian plant at Wiener Neustadt keeping production of the DA42 twin.

Most significantly, the influx of capital may trigger a resurrection of the Diamond D-Jet, a single-pilot jet that has been under sporadic development since the very light jet (VLJ) craze of the mid 2000s.

Wanfeng Auto Holding Group also has connections with Czech LSA builder Direct Fly.
