CASA has opened applications for its 2026 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Scholarship Program, offering three scholarships worth $5,000 each to support people working towards a CASR Part 66 licence.
The regulator says the program is designed to help candidates take the next step towards licensing while balancing training, workplace experience and costs.
CASA Executive Manager, Stakeholder Engagement Andreas Marcelja said aircraft maintenance engineering is an essential occupation and the scholarships are intended to encourage more people to consider the profession as a career.
CASA also pointed to recent changes to licensing arrangements, including the introduction of a modular licence pathway that can allow maintenance engineers to obtain a licence with limitations after completing core subjects, potentially reducing the time required to achieve an initial licence.
Now in its sixth year, the scholarship program is particularly aimed at engineers gaining hands-on experience in the workplace, including those who have not followed a formal training pathway. Applicants can also use CASA’s Part 66 self-study pathway, which allows independent study and examinations at an individual pace.
Applications close Sunday 1 March.
