AMDA Foundation CEO Justin Giddings told assembled media this morning that the Friday public flying display at Avalon would start earlier than scheduled.

Traditionally, the Friday morning at the Australian International Airshow is reserved for industry people only, with the public normally permitted through the gates from 2.30 pm.

This year, the public will be allowed through the gates from 11.30 am, with the flying displays slated to start at 1.00 pm.

"The flying display is just that big on the Friday," Giddings said. "The Friday night is little spoken about, but it has the best fireworks you'll ever see and the flying display during the day is just awesome.

"The Friday night is just spectacular; the best fireworks ever and the wall of fire, which we have every day, but on the Friday night is just spectacular."

Giddings said that Avalon 2023 was shaping up to be the largest ever with all exhibition space booked out for the first time and a waiting list of 120 companies.

The expo will host 798 exhibitors, a 14% increase over the last air show in 2019.

"Avalon is a platform for engagement between industry, government, defence and the civil aviation, aerospace and space communities," Giddings said.

"The success of Avalon 2023 reflects a bouyant industry that is looking to the future capability needs of the Australian Defence Force and civil aerospace and space customers.

"Industry is demonstrating that it can fulfil those needs from within Australia, sustaining a sovereign capability that contributes to both the security and national economy of all Australians."

AMDA Foundation released the flying display schedule last week, featuring the T-50 formation team the Black Eagles from the Republic of Korea Air Force.

The trade-only period is due to kick off at Avalon this Tuesday, with the general public days running Friday to Sunday.
