The 2025 Australian International Airshow (Avalon) has been scheduled for 25-30 March next year, and will come with a new layout and corporate identity.

AMDA Foundation, which runs the air show and exhibition, announced the news yesterday, exactly one year out from the start of the event.

"The Avalon 2025 Australian International Airshow is now only one year away and we're unveiling some exciting new initiatives to help usher in the next generation of the event," the AMDA announcement says.

"Avalon 2025 will present expanded exhibition and participation opportunities throughout the industry-only trade sessions (25-28 March) for aerospace and defence industry organisations."

Among the changes touted for 2025 are:

  • a 25% increase in indoor exhibition space
  • a fourth exhibition hall
  • a new corporate hospitality product: Exhibitor Business Units
  • relocating the corporate hospitality precinct to enable better access to the exhibition halls
  • streamlined access to the event.

"We have paired more than 30 years of event expertise, added your valuable feedback and are set to launch a new look Avalon, for the ultimate airshow experience in 2025," AMDA claims.

The announced calendar dates represent the latest the Avalon air show has been held since 1992, when it was run in October before permanently switching to a slot that has varied between mid-February and mid-March. In 2007, the show ran from 20-25 March, the latest autumn slot thus far.

Dates for the event have often been set around the schedule for the Australian Formula One Grand Prix, which is rumoured to be the opening event on the calendar next year and likely to be run in early March, colliding with traditional dates for Avalon.
