AirVenture Australia Pty Ltd, the organising company behind the AirVenture Australia fly-in and air show at Narromine, is moving forward and putting the recent controversy over exclusive sponsorship deals behind it.

Chief organiser David Young has said his team is going full-steam to make the event a reality.

“The mixed and sometimes misinformed social media commentary is now behind us and I together with some hard working people are beavering away at delivering a stand out event," he said.

"The event will be a celebration of recreational, light sport and general aviation, with something for everyone."

After OzRunways withdrew their naming-rights sponsorship money following a social media backlash over exclusivity, AirVenture was facing a serious funding shortfall, but Young is confident his team can find the balance needed for the event to go forward.

“We continue to receive enquiries from exhibitors and aviators alike," he said, "which says to us the event is well supported.

“We are currently working with a range of sponsors and exhibitors, including OzRunways and AvPlan, among others. We expect to make some major announcements about ticketing and event activities in the coming week.”

AirVenture Australia is scheduled for Narromine Airport, NSW, on 19-21 October 2017.
