Airventure Australia organiser David Young has hailed the event at Narromine last weekend as a success.

In a statement released today, Young praised the general aviation community for its support.

“I’d like to thank each and every person involved with this year’s event," Young said. "Although AirVenture Australia is still in its infancy, we delivered an event we could be proud of and judging by the number of visitors and aircraft, the event was a huge success.

"AirVenture Australia has cemented its place as Australia’s premier general, sport and recreational aviation trade show, education forum and fly in and its format is the only one of its type offered on a large scale."

Organisers have reported 2363 visitors to the event, with around 440 aircraft arriving across the three days. In total, Airventure Australia hosted 55 seminars and the expo boasted and more than 40 exhibitors.

“Exhibitors have reported an outstanding event with nine aircraft sold, a number of avionics and other aviation product orders and strong leads resulting from their exhibitions," Young reported.

“I’d like to thank our sponsors, Aviation Trader, QBE, Narromine Council and CASA as well as the teams at RAAus and the APF; this event would not have succeeded without them."

Recreational Aviation Australia Chairman Michael Monck said his organisation was 100% committed to the growth of AirVenture Australia in the future.

"It meets the twin needs of catering to our large and varied membership, but also gives the public an opportunity to sample aviation," Monck said. "It doesn’t matter what you fly, I want to see you involved in aviation. This is an event run by aviators, for aviators. By working together with a host of other organisations and aviators we can get more people flying, we can achieve something better, something bigger."

Airventure Australia was held at Narromine Airport, NSW, 19-21 October.
