Tecnam has entered the surveillance market by announcing collaboration with UAV Vision to produce a P92 Eaglet low-cost survey solution. The aircraft has a gyro-stabilised camera gimbal installed in the underside of the fuselage.
The solution is expected to find customer in several markets, including the geographical mapping, shark patrols, border security, tactical surveillance, law enforcement, power line, pipeline and other infrastructure inspection.
Many of the mission profiles include the use of UAV Vision’s GEOLock function. GEOLock enables the system to automatically move the camera so that the area of interest stays in the frame, freeing the pilot to concentrate on flying.
Tecnam modified an Eaglet at its Capua production facility with the UAV Vision gimbal and presented it at AERO 2012 in April, where its capabilities were demonstrated. Customers can specify the gimbal on new production, or the system can be retro-fitted to existing aircraft.
