Actor John Travolta will personally deliver the Qantas Boeing 707 that he has donated to the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) at Albion Park, NSW.

The news was confirmed by HARS during the week, but the actual date for arrival in Australia has not been set. It is expected to be in late 2018.

Travolta's aircraft, a B707-138B currently registered as N707JT, was delivered to Qantas in 1964 and operated with the Flying Kangaroo until 1968. Travolta bought the aircraft in 1998 and re-painted it in Qantas livery in 2002 when he became an ambassador for the airline.

In May this year, he announced that he would donate the aircraft to HARS.

Delivery of the aircraft is thought to be unknown because of a maintenance program that has to be carried out in the USA. Despite the fact that the aircraft has been donated, the cost of bringing it to Australia has been estimated at over $A1 million.
