CASA has announced important air safety workshops for pilots operating in the Yorke Peninsula and Snowy Mountain regions.

The regulator is holding the workshops to help provide pilots in these regions with special training to improve their flying and safety skills.

At the workshops, pilots will be given detailed briefings on recent changes to flying procedures at regional and capital city airports. The workshops are part of a national regional air safety campaign, and CASA spokesman Peter Gibson says extra training will be offered to lift pilots’ safety skills to even higher levels.

“All pilots receive comprehensive training but these workshops mean they will be even better equipped to fly safely at all times and deal with emergencies,” he says.

Gibson reiterated that, while both regions have good air safety records, accidents do happen and everyone in aviation must work hard to keep local skies safe.

The Snowy Mountain workshops will be held at Cooma Ex Services Club on Tuesday August 3 and at the Jindabyne Bowling and Sports Club on Wednesday August 4, both starting at 1800.

The Yorke Peninsula workshop is being held at the Maitland Aero Club on Saturday August 7 from 0930. CASA will put on free refreshments for all who attend.
