Flight Training Adelaide has announced it has been approved as a VET FEE-HELP provider and can now offer financial assistance to its students through the scheme.

As of November, Parafield Airport-based Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) will offer VET FEE-HELP to students enrolled in its Diploma in Aviation (Instrument Flying Operations) program.

Under the scheme, students who complete FTA’s Diploma in Aviation (Instrument Flying Operations) will receive 24 credits towards a Bachelor Degree in Commerce at the University of Adelaide. However, the completion of this degree is optional.

FTA says this program differs from those already offered by other flight training organisations because FTA itself, rather than a university, is the holder of the VET FEE-HELP approval

“This initiative creates three very significant advantages over existing university programs,” an FTA spokesman said. “The full $86,422 loan can be used towards the Diploma in Aviation (Instrument Flying Operations) course. In effect the full training course fee is covered by the loan.

“The Diploma in Aviation course duration is 40 weeks. This allows the student the choice to enter the workforce two years sooner than students attending the university course available from other institutions. Should the student wish to complete a degree, he/she can do so and will have gained 24 credits towards a Bachelors Degree in Commerce at the University of Adelaide.”

FTA celebrates 30 years of operation in 2012; it currently has a fleet of nearly 50 aircraft and is owned by Hong Kong-based Young Brothers Aviation.
