CASA released guidance material today for flying schools seeking CASR Part 141 certification.

Part 141 covers flying schools training to CPL level for single-pilot operations, such as private flying schools and aero clubs.

Schools that were in operation prior to 1 September 2014 have until 31 August 2018 to transition to the new regulations.

The guidance material released today includes:

  • A sample operations manual
  • Technical assessor guidance
  • Temporary management instructions
  • Sample syllabus
  • Information sheets

"The Part 141 Sample Operations Manual is designed for operators who only conduct flying training activities," CASA says.

"It provides a basic template for these operators and will require minimal tailoring to reflect individual organisations. An explanatory document provides instructions on how the sample manual should be used, as well as details on the information that should be included."

Flying schools who offer intergrated training for multi-crew environments need to transition to CASR Part 142.

Guidance material for Part 141 is available on the CASA website.
