Six scholarships are up for grabs for students across the country, with each successful applicant receiving $1000 towards their studies for each year in a two-year period. CASA says these payments will be to assist in the purchasing of tools of professional quality, mandatory text books and/or travel and accommodation to attend full-time theory training.

CASA is seeking applications from students currently studying or those who have enrolled in a relevant course of study. High school students in Year 12 who wish to pursue a career as a LAME are also encouraged to apply.

To be eligible for a scholarship applicants must provide:

* evidence of an employment commitment signed by the proprietor of an organisation holding a CASA Certificate of Approval for maintenance of Australian aircraft;
* a character reference from a recent employer or school principal;
* recent high school examination results (which must include passes in physics and mathematics), or evidence of work experience in a mechanical or electrical trade or technical enterprise; and
* a written statement outlining why they are training to become a LAME.

Applicants must also download and complete an application form from the CASA website, and applications close Friday May 7.
