CASA is inviting General Aviation pilots to visit its stand at next week's Avalon Airshow.
CASA will have a strong presence at the event next week, with experts on a wide range of topics on hand at its stand (Hall C, stand number 3E16).
On Avalon’s industry days – Tuesday to Thursday – the specialists on the stand will be able to cover the more commercial issues such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), human factors, maintenance and flight testing.
From the Friday as the event opens to the general public and through to its conclusion on the Sunday, the focus swings more to GA, with topics including GPS technology and sport aviation being covered.
At this year’s Avalon the regulator will also focus on the previously announced issue of Australia’s ageing GA aircraft fleet, with a series of forums to be held to discuss the issue and look at CASA’s ageing aircraft management program.
GA pilots who drop into the CASA stand will also have the chance to have a close look at the OnTrack interactive online flight planning tool CASA unveiled last year. OnTrack was developed to help pilots move around terminal areas without violating controlled airspace and contains charts, video and animation to explain the approach procedures.
On Avalon’s Thursday, CASA will also have a speaker at the Safeskies GA safety symposium. This seminar runs from 1000 to 1130 and should factor into the airshow plans for all GA people going to Avalon.
