Sydney Metro Airports has released its 2015 Preliminary Draft Master Plan (PDMP) for Camden Airport.

The PDMP covers the period 2015-20 and was made available for public comment this week.

Camden Airport Limited CEO Colin Grove says in his forward that Camden is seen as a valuable asset to the south-western suburbs of Sydney.

"Camden Airport is a significant and important feature in the local landscape and has a history stretching back to the late 1930s.

"Camden Airport Limited's [CAL] vision is for the airport to continue to make an economic contribution to the local economy and increase this contribution in a manner that will integrate with the NSW Government's A Plan for Growing Sydney."

In the PDMP, CAL concedes that the forecast traffic for Camden is not expected to surpass the airport's capacity in the period the plan covers, meaning that no new airside aviation infrastructure is likely to be needed to cope with increased traffic,

The only non-aviation development currently expected is the re-location of the aviation museum from Bankstown.

The PDMP is open for public comment until 15 September, and the final Draft Master Plan is due to be presented to Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss on 27 October.

The PDMP can be downloaded from the Camden Airport website.
