Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown has completed the leasing arrangements with aerospace materials manufacturer Quickstep Technologies Pty Ltd.
The newly completed lease will see Quickstep Technologies move into what used to be the Boeing Australia site on the Milperra Road side of the airport – a move which will happily see the site retained for aerospace use rather than fall into the hands of a non-aviation related business.
The site is over 1.8 Ha in area and includes 4370m2 of buildings, which Quickstep will use to manufacture parts for the international F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program over the next 20 years after signing a Long Term Agreement with Northrop Grumman Corporation earlier this year.
“The completion of this deal is great news for the airport and the local economy,” Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown CEO Colin Grove said. “The addition of Quickstep to the Bankstown Airport precinct complements the existing array of world leading aviation manufacturers.”
The leasing agreement includes a 10-year lease with two further five-year options and Quickstep expects to employ between 60 and 150 people at the site. After an extensive fitout of the premises, the company aims to begin transfer of operations to the site throughout 2012.
