The crowd figures and aircraft numbers at Ausfly 2015 last weekend exceeded the organisers' target numbers, indicating the annual event is becoming a national fixture.

Over 400 aircraft were estimated to have flown into Narromine over the Friday and Saturday, with another 2000 people coming in through the gates.

Although marginal weather dogged flyers trying to get in on the Thursday, the weather on both show days couldn't have been better, with clear skies and calm conditions the back drop to a most professionally run air show.

The highlight of the flying program was undoubtedly the perennial favourites, the Roulettes, but Paul Bennet with his Pitts Specials and warbird collection contributed to a significant program.

Judy Pay's CAC Mustang, Jim Wickham's Yak 9 and Mark Pracey's Albatros fighter jet all kept the crowd very entertained, as did the Yak and Nanchang team the Russian Roolettes.

The Roolettes have come a long way since their days of gentle formation displays, graduating to a full formation aerobatic team that put on jaw-dropping display for the crowd.

The apron at Narromine was packed with display aircraft from Cirrus, Aeroprakt, Evektor, Brumby, Jabiru, Bristell, Legend Cub and Sling, giving people plenty to look at before the aerial program began.

With companies in the exhibition centre like OzRunways, CASA, Airservices Australia, Bose, Garmin, AvPlan and Enigma Avionics, there was a lot to see and do, and post-event accounts show that most exhibitors were happy with the strong turn-out, especially on the Saturday.

With Ausfly 2014 canceled, many in the industry did not believe that it would return in 2015; many Australian air shows have taken sabbaticals never to be seen again. It is a testimony to the dedication of the organisers and the Sport Aircraft Association of Australia in particular that Ausfly is back on track and looking the goods for 2016 already.
