Italian manufacturer Tecnam used this week's AERO Friedrichshafen show to announce two significant additions to its lineup: a major upgrade to its P2010 single-engine four-seater, and a luxury executive variant of the twin-engine P2012.
The P2010 MkIII brings a refreshed interior, new avionics options and, for the Lycoming-powered IO-390 and IO-360 variants, a factory-designed air conditioning system. The upgrade is available across the full P2010 range, which also includes the diesel-powered TDI variant. Every new MkIII leaves the factory with a revised standard grey interior, which Tecnam says elevates cabin elegance and passenger comfort.
The AC system is subject to EASA certification expected in mid-2026, with FAA approval to follow in October. Tecnam says the system will also be offered as a retrofit for existing P2010 Lycoming owners, a move the company describes as a demonstration of its commitment to current fleet operators.
On the avionics side, an optional Garmin bundle adds Taxiway Routing, an enhanced checklist system, Synthetic Vision 2.0 and Starlink connectivity. A flight management system update is also available for both the TDI and Lycoming versions, bringing advanced flight planning and navigation to the cockpit.
On the twin side, Tecnam pulled the covers off the P2012 VIP, a six-seat executive configuration built around what the company says is the largest cabin volume in its class. The interior features a four-seat club arrangement with hand-stitched leather seating, each chair offering eight degrees of freedom including recline, slide and rotation. Two electrically retractable tray tables serve the cabin for dining or work in flight.
Technology runs throughout. Electronically dimmable panoramic windows replace traditional shades, adjustable LED ambient lighting shifts from bright workspace to subdued lounge atmosphere, and a three-layer soundproofing system is complemented by LEMO headset plugs at every seat for active noise cancellation. Starlink-capable USB-C ports and 110/220V power sockets keep devices charged throughout the flight.
The P2012 VIP's galley, described by Tecnam as a jewel of Italian furniture craftsmanship, includes a chilled compartment and a dedicated coffee station. A private aft lavatory finished in leather and Alcantara sits behind a sliding door at the rear of the cabin.
CEO Paolo Pascale Langer described the aircraft as "the ultimate expression of Italian design and aeronautical engineering," adding that Tecnam wanted to create an aircraft "where the journey is just as magnificent as the destination."
Pricing and delivery timelines for both the MkIII upgrade and the P2012 VIP have not yet been announced.
