Lawrence Hargrave Lecture and Dinner - the Evolution of the ATSB

The end of June 2018 will mark Greg Hood’s second anniversary as Chief Commissioner of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB). In delivering the Lawrence Hargrave memorial lecture, Greg will candidly discuss some of the challenges that have faced the team at the ATSB during the past two years. These have included the use of emerging science associated with the search for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, the introduction of remotely piloted aircraft systems (drones) in accident investigation, and the changing skill sets required for accident investigation, including preparing for the age of automation in transport. The Chief Commissioner will also discuss some of the recent complex investigations completed by the ATSB.
