Mooney Aircraft has outlined their short term manufacturing plans and product profiles at Sun'n Fun in Florida. The revived production line was scheduled for restart in February this year.

The flagship of the new range is expected to be the Acclaim Type S, which has seen no new production since 2009. The high-performance single will keep its legendary exterior profile, but will have an updated interior along with Garmin G1000 dual glass avionics system and GFC700 autopilot. The twin turbo charged, 242-knot Acclaim Type S will feature a Continental Gold Standard TSIO-550 G engine with a 2200 hour TBO. The price of a new Acclaim will be slightly under $US700,000.

Also making a comeback is the Ovation3 featuring a 310hp Continental Gold standard IO-550 engine and a 197-knot cruise Speed. With the focus on quality and lean production processes and systems, Mooney is gradually ramping up production. Six airframes are scheduled for completion in 2014, but the company is predicting that production will increase substantially in 2015.

“The Mooney International products will be a better, more reliable and better supported than any Mooney airplane in the past,” says CEO Dr Jerry Chen. “We have invested millions of dollars in the facility, lean manufacturing systems and new, innovative technologies that have greatly advanced the quality and capability of our production.”

Mooney International also announced at Sun 'n Fun that the first new Acclaim is to be auctioned on-line with the funds to go toward building a Mooney museum at the company's Kerrville, Texas headquarters.
