Rule changes for this weekend's Gdynia, Poland, round of the Red Bull Air Race will reduce the impact of infringements.

Penalties for striking pylons and being too fast at the entry gate have been relaxed. Previously, both drew instant disqualification.

From Gdynia, a pylon strike will now incur a two-second penalty for each of the first two strikes, with disqualification if the pilot hits a third pylon in the same run.

Entry speeds will now have a 1-knot tolerance on the 200-knot limit, after which a one-second penalty will apply to the pilot's race time.

Australian Matt Hall fell foul of the original pylon-strike rule in both the Abu Dhabi and Croatia rounds, being disqualified from progressing any further.

Canadian gun Pete McLeod was disqualfied from the final four at Putrajaya, Malaysia after breaching the entry speed limit.

The Gdynia round is this weekend 26-27 July with the race on Sunday at 1520 local time.
